"High Desert", the fourth album from Mars Arizona will be released in April, 2010 on Big Barn Records. The release will include two covers this time - "Sweet Virginia" by the Rolling Stones and "Must Have Been The Roses" by Robert Hunter. This release bends some genres and we here at Mars Arizona Headquarters hope you enjoy our experimentation. All of the tracking, mixing and mastering has been completed. It's been a great year. We met a few new folks that were involved in the creation of this release and we wish to thank everyone who contributed.

The new release is still in the works. We have another round of recording coming up in Cotati at Prairie Sun Recording Studios. It's a great studio with lots of vibe and vintage gear in Sonoma County. We're just going to go in, tune up and start jamming. So far we have tracked 6 tunes in Nashville, and one in Berkeley, CA. Ken Coomer joined us on drums for "High Desert" and "Lookout Radio". Billy Block took the beat on "Glad To Be Here", "Alabama Bound", and "Must Have Been The Roses". Ollie O'Shea and Woody Vermiere joined us on fiddle, along with Adam Roszkiewicz on mandolin. L.A. Bassist Jeff LeGore has put the finishing touches on the Bass part for "Must Have Been The Roses" and Paul Lacques laid down some stellar lap steel on "High Desert". Dave Walker is working on the guitar part for "Must Have Been The Roses". Thanks to Dave Zirbel for dropping by and shining up "Glad to Be Here" with his magical pedal steel guitar. Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Billy Joe Shaver) mixed "High Desert" and "Lookout Radio" for us with his vintage analog audio gear at his studio in Nashville. Special thanks to Jim Lacey-Baker for laying down the slide guitar solo on "Lookout Radio". Cory Stuck and Paul stopped into Expressions Studios in Emeryville at 4 a.m. one Saturday morning to mix "Alabama Bound" and "Glad To Be Here". Some more Analog mix goodies were consumed there. So, that's the story so far. Thanks again to those folks that have contributed to make all of this possible. Stay tuned!
